THE STARTING POINT

Brief

Sirkin 21 is an old building in the market zone of Haifa. In the last few years, new residents have started to move to the area. As part of this gentrification, the Sirkin 21 building has gotten new purposes- from housing a plant shop to a bar on the balcony. As such, the assignment was to find a business in the building, assess its needs or uniqueness, and make a platform for it.

Background

We chose to make our project about 'Lehem Einaim' bakery.

The uniqueness of the bakery is to adapt a type of bread to the exact health needs of the customer. By using a unique algorithm they offer suitable bread options for each customer. The algorithm takes into account any specific problems or health needs.

User Flow

The home screen is with one main action only- see your recommended breads. This is to simplify the process and help the users who are less comfortable in the tech world.

UX PROCESS

Wireframes

Through the wireframe building, we tried to make the health questionnaire as minimal and forthcoming as possible. If we want the users to feel comfortable entering their private health details, we had to lighten up the process and keep it simple.

As seen in the wireframes of the bread details down below, we struggled with the data architecture. On one hand, we wanted to keep everything minimal and simple, but on the other hand, we had a massive amount of data to bring to the user and we weren't sure what was the best compromise in between.
At last, we took the approach of a slide menu on the top, so every screen shows only one kind of information. The user now has a choice of which info they are most interested in, and can navigate between them with ease.

The display font is a handwriting font. We wanted to emphasize the handprint of the owner in each bread, sort of the 'magic touch'. Baked bread is a personal thing and as such, it has to be accompanied by handwriting.

The color palette is inspired by the color of baked goods- mainly browns and yellows. The green color comes from the bakery's logo, it is very noticeable and gives good contrast.

UI PROCESS

Keeping it pleasant

Because the user needs to fill out a health form to sign up, we discovered many users feel it is too private and leave the process.
To solve this, we created a simple and pleasant health sign-up, which isolates each parameter to itself, so it seems less threatening. Also, we softened it up with icons, doodles, a calm color palette, and when possible, an option to give an inaccurate answer.
